I am a contemporary botanical and nature artist
based in the Washington, DC area.
From childhood I have been enthralled with weeds,
bugs, four-legged critters and flowers. But it took many years
for me to delve into creating botanical and nature art. After
working in the graphic arts, public relations and as a caterer
and personal chef, I took classes at the Corcoran School of Art
+ Design and the United States Botanic Garden in Washington, DC
and received a certificate in botanical art. While at the Corcoran
I received the Kenneth Stubbs Memorial Award for excellence in
drawing and painting. (I was a surprised and happy old lady!)
My work has been shown at the Corcoran Museum, Washington,
DC; United States Botanic Garden, Washington, DC; Monticello Library,
Charlottesville, VA; Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, Winchester,
VA; The Athenaeum, Alexandria, Virginia; National Agricultural
Museum, Beltsville, MD; Architecture Center, Washington, DC; Brookside
Gardens, Wheaton, MD; Cosmos Club, Washington, DC; Strathmore
Mansion, Rockville, MD; and in galleries in the mid-Atlantic region.
My work has appeared on the front and back covers
of the 2010 White House Holiday book and in Native Plants of
the Mid Atlantic (Lydia Inglett Ltd. Publishing, 2014).
I am a member of the American Society of Botanical
Artists and the Botanical Artists Society of the National Capital
Region.
